Noah Kato-Samuel
This project was born from my previous introspective-photographic work. After examining my own upbringing, I gained an interest in the development of others. I wanted to learn about how artistic practice shapes identity.
To answer this question, I turned outwards. Through interacting with my subjects in their creative spaces, I deepened my understanding of them as people and thus of myself. Glimpses into their perception of the world—their art—enriched my own.
These photographs and transcribed interviews speak to art’s role in society, identity, and ego. The camera is simply an excuse. I photograph to connect with whatever is in front of the lens.

His work explores identity, community, and personal conviction, often featuring individuals from his own life who embody the values and ideas he seeks to convey. Through intimate portraits and carefully composed scenes, Noah aims to tell stories that resonate visually, emotionally, and culturally. As he continues to grow as an artist, he remains focused on using photography not only as a tool for self-expression but as a means of sparking dialogue and connection.
