Jaiden Granger

My Personal Vision Project isn’t just centered on a specific subject but is centered around the idea and ability to challenge what depth and placement mean in an image. When I started this project I wasn’t really sure what direction I would take it in and whether or not I would incorporate collage or mixed media practices. I think a large part of what I've come to love about the project is how everything is done in camera and how it reminds us of how interesting the things around us can be if we look in the right ways. Following that train of thought I feel that the photos that convey this idea of depth best are ones where two objects overlap or are in conflict with one another in some way. A large part of my reasoning for seeking out this idea was just as a technical exploration, but the more I sat with the idea and made new work I realized how much this was about my general understanding of art and my own way of seeing. This whole process has really led me to push myself and continue creating the things I want to create even if I'm not sure how to do it and to give myself the time to work in new ways. I would like viewers to feel like they are seeing things in a new way.
